It is with great honor and admiration to have been elected as the President of the JalalabadAssociation of America, Inc. This great Association unites our heritage and interest and shares a commitment to the highest standards of our culture. I would like to convey my heartfelt gratitude to you for choosing me and my team to lead this outstanding organization. Established in 1971, we have provided leadership on issues affecting our community and promoting the spirit of great War of Liberation. I give special thanks to our past Presidents for their devotion and sacrifices to build a strong foundation that to date has over 14,000 registered members with prosperity to growth.
As the President of the Association’s 12th committee, I vow to reciprocate the trust and confidence our members have bestowed upon us. We cannot falter upholding the rich tradition and culture of greater Sylhet region as we interact with members of other communities. Thanks to the countless hours of hard work and dedication from our past Presidents, Secretaries, Executive Committee members, and sponsors for bringing the Association to this height.
Acknowledging these, I plead all to be more optimistic and further involved in materializing the goals that drive us to do better for the community. Now is the time to think as a member of the mainstream US society while we act to uplift the lives of newly arrived immigrants. I dream developing a generation of leaders who would not only contest in the Association elections bit participate in all the City, State, and Federal elections to emerge as mainstream leaders and serve the community better.
I am fortunate to have a very dedicated Executive Committee. Let me assure you that their service, attitude, and identity to the community will first be that of a community worker. Next will be the position each holds at your service. Please provide us your valuable feedbacks, suggestions, and time in pursuing the goals of the Association.
I am much hopeful of the signature projects being undertaken by the Association in attaining its goals. These include establishment of organizations own complex capable of housing a community school and a training center for new immigrants. This would also help us organizing most of the social and cultural events within own facility. We plan to introduce scholarship to qualified new immigrant students to help them develop their careers. I am confident of your support in all these undertakings.
I would like to thank our sponsors for their continued support to and collaboration with the Association. I am also indebted to members who have been bringing some remarkable and useful donations for the community. With all of your support, we will strive to continue our past success and pave the way for future generations. I look forward to work hand in hand with our partners, sponsors and members.
